SECOND World War drama, Lilies on the Land, comes to Liverpool Everyman in April, exploring an extraordinary episode in Britain’s history
Set during an extraordinary episode in Britain’s history, Lilies on the Land celebrates the Women’s Land Army’s contribution to the war.
Following phenomenal success on tour and critical acclaim in London’s West End last year, this popular play comes to the Liverpool Everyman from April 7-9.
Based on hundreds of letters from, and extensive interviews with, original Land Girls and songs from the period, Lilies on the Land charts the personal journeys of four women who signed up for the Women’s Land Army more than 70 years ago in World War Two.
As Britain went to war, women from all walks of life signed up to work long hours on the land. After the initial and perhaps inevitable clashes, a camaraderie grows between the characters. Lilies on the Land can be seen at the Everyman in Liverpool from April 7-9. Ring the box office on 0151 709 4776 or visit www.everymaplayhouse.com.
