TIP Top’s next production at the Forum Studio Theatre in Hamilton Place, Chester, will be comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
This classic show satirises many things: science fiction, B-movies, musical comedy itself and even the Faust legend.
It enjoyed great success on Broadway and in the West End and has twice been made into a best-selling film.
Seymour Krelborn, a young man down on his luck, spends day in, day out, slaving away in Mr Mushnik’s Florist Shop, mooning over the glamorous and ditsy assistant Audrey and dreaming of a way out of downtown skid row.
Until one day, during a total eclipse of the sun, Seymour stumbles on a strange and exotic new plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood that could change his luck forever.
An overnight sensation, the newly christened Audrey II offers Seymour a ticket out of skid row and perhaps even a chance of a date with the real life Audrey – in exchange for feeding the growing appetite of this anything-but-ordinary plant. Š
As Audrey II grows to monstrous proportions and develops an ever more blood-thirsty appetite, Seymour gives in to her ferocious demands.
The question is will Seymour survive Audrey II’s plans for global domination? And can he grab his chance for a life of fame, fortune and true love?
Featuring music from the hit 1986 film, including Somewhere That’s Green and Suddenly Seymour, Little Shop Of Horrors is a fun night out for all.
