The Stranglers to play the O2 Academy in Liverpool
Punk rock icons The Stranglers will get a grip of the O2 Academy crowd in Liverpool when they play there next week.
Being the only band out of the ‘Four Kings’ of the punk rock movement with a continuing successful recording career, The Stranglers have certainly maintained their ability to captivate an audience.
Due to the demand of their sell-out tour last February and a busy major festival season, the band returns to the UK with the Black and Blue Tour.
Last summer saw The Stranglers play the main stages of the UK’s top festivals, including T in The Park, Oxegen in Europe and Glastonbury, and they are now busy working on a new album.
On the upcoming tour they hope to road test a couple of the new tunes, along with a combination of classics from a 16-album career, such as the unforgettable Peaches, No More Heroes and Golden Brown.
A band spokesman said: “With top 40 hits spanning 34 years and through four decades, the band has also charted 24 Top 40 singles with cumulative worldwide sales of more than 16 million.
“They continue to deliver an impressive and enrapturing live show, selling out across the UK.
“Expect memorable classics delivered with that trademark Stranglers sound that hits you hard time after time until you’re black and blue.”
