THE Retrospective come storming back into our lives on Friday.
The indie pop-rock trio finally return to the scene of their greatest performance with a second headline slot at The Box in Pedley Street, Crewe.
Scott Evanson (vocals/guitar), his brother Ross (drums) and Si Halewood (bass) won over any doubters on a night stacked with quality from top to bottom.
Arguably they stole the show alongside Young Rebel Set with a true statement of intent – fuelled by angst and amazing musicianship.
“It’s probably the best we’ve ever played to be honest,” admitted Scott.
“We’ve tried to maintain that level ever since because that gig did raise the bar.”
Tagged Crewe’s premier local band for their Carnival appearance with Darius Campbell and Vavoom, they plan to justify it and push on in 2011.
With other bands falling by the wayside over recent months, the likeable frontman believes the scene has now opened up.
“It was at the Carnival when we realised what we were doing was good and how much we enjoy it,” continued Scott
“It made us focus and take it all a lot more seriously than we had before.
“Almost at the same time as we were doing the Carnival, a lot of bands called it a day.
“Everyone seems to have disappeared around us.
“When we started, we wanted to try and get up among the likes of Sgt Wolfbanger.
“I know probably a lot of people were going off to University but it was still strange just how many folded.
“It’s certainly changed on the local scene and I think it’s opened up for a few new bands to step up.”
Plans to take their tunes both regional and national remain in the pipeline.
And they’re on the lookout for some qualified assistance to take them to the next level.
“We’ve entered the Surface Festival which is a big competition for unsigned bands,” added Scott.
“Moorlands Radio seem to have taken a shine to us so we’re also doing a live set for them and we’ve got a few more gigs lined up.
“We’re trying to get some management, that’s the first step really.
“We want to be releasing singles and touring so we need to find some help to get us there.”
The Retrospective top a stunning bill of live music on Friday, including fellow local heroes Tomorrow’s Yesterday plus debuts for Stoke outfit Carnation and The David International from Macclesfield.
“I’m looking forward to it, I’ve heard it’s been getting busier and I think it’s becoming a real night out now,” concluded Scott.
“I’m pleased it’s really taking off.”
