Tribute screening of Brassed Off at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall to say farewell to the late Pete Postlethwaite

LIVERPOOL’S Philharonic Hall is providing everyone with a chance to say goodbye to home grown stage and screen star star Pete Postlethwaite.

One of this country’s most treasured and exceptional actors, who died earlier this month, will be seen in a special screening of the hit British movie Brassed Off on Tuesday, January 25 at 7.30pm.

BBC TV and radio film critic, Mark Kermode, said: “Saying goodbye to one of our overlooked national treasures is not the best way to start the year but let's remember him in one of his greatest performances.”

Postlethwaite was born in Cheshire and launched his stage career at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre, working alongside the likes of Bill Nighy and Julie Walters.

Rupert Goold, director of King Lear at Liverpool Everyman in 2008, said: “I felt Pete had this incredible humanity. And while being unsentimental, he was deeply moving. Above all, I'd been inspired by his performance in Brassed Off.”

To book tickets, priced £6.50 and £5.50, call 0151 709 3789 or visit the website: www.liverpoolphil.com.
