A BREATHTAKING version of the highly acclaimed gothic ballet Giselle comes to Runcorn next month.
Critics Circle Award-winning dance company Independent Ballet Wales present the ghostly classic at The Brindley Theatre on Friday, December 3.
Giselle is a romantic tale, tinged with a touch of the undead.
Featuring the stunning original soundtrack by Adolphe Adam, the production features atmospheric costumes and sets, which bring the performance to life.
The ballet tells the story of peasant girl Giselle, who is driven to kill herself when she discovers that her youthful lover ‘Loys’ is in reality Count Albrecht, and not free to marry her.
She rises from the dead to prey on the man who has betrayed her but as Albrecht, repenting, visits her moonlit grave, Giselle protects him from the deathly touch of her phantom sisters until the dawn sees him safe once more.
With outstanding classical dancers and expansive choreography, this production is billed as the most thrilling and entertaining dance event of the year.
There is an afternoon matinee at 1.30pm and an evening performance at 7.30pm.
Tickets are priced £14 for adults, £12 for concessions and £48 for a family ticket, which includes seats for two adults and two children.
They are available from The Brindley box office on 0151 907 8360 or at www.thebrindley.org.uk.
