HAVING served her time in various bands, including the acclaimed Mississippi Mermaids, Dubliner Celine Carroll now swims in solo waters.
Her music has been described from soft-jazz to acoustic soul, with shades of Burt Bacharach, Carole King and Paul McCartney.
With a back catalogue of more than 200 songs, Celine has three studio albums to her credit.
Her first entitled Catch You As You Fall was produced by Declan Sinnott and also provided Frances Black with the song Don't Get Me Wrong, which became the title track of her best selling album.
Her follow up Itch, a collection of 10 original songs, received much critical acclaim. Celine’s third album is called Such A Beautiful Light.
Having honed her stage craft with many high profile support slots in Ireland and many performances in Chicago and Nashville, Celine delivers live performances of passionate lyrics and melody-driven songs around Ireland with her own band.
UK manager Graham Ashmore said: “Former RTE 2FM legend Mike Moloney worked for a little while on Sligo & Donegal's Ocean FM.
“He had a Sunday evening show called the Irish Album. He wasn't there all that long, but in that brief stint Mike uncovered some real gems.
“One such song was called Apologise by Celine Carroll. Such was the quality of the song, I had to buy a copy straight away.
“The album was uncomplicated and easy to get into. A couple of tracks were already beginning to emit that play-it-again demand and I wanted the world to know how great Celine is and bring her similar appreciation in the UK to what she has in Ireland and the states.”
Celine said: “I'm really looking forward to coming to the UK. As a songwriter and performer, it's wonderful to get the opportunity to play my music to new people that will hopefully become new fans.”
Celine will be at Alexander’s in Chester on Sunday, October 31. Ring 01244 340005 or visit www.alexanderslive.com.
