WEEKLY jazz performances at the Royal British Legion at Llay in Wrexham continue on Tuesday, October 19 with one of North Wales Jazz Society’s highly popular jam sessions, featuring award winning saxophonist Mike Hall.
Mike, a former member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Michael Garrick Big Band, has had an exciting schedule in 2010.
He staged a week of performances at London’s Ronnie Scott’s in the Echoes of Ellington band, a concert with the nine sax line-up of Andy Scott’s Sax Assault and renowned US saxman Bob Mintzer at the World Saxophone Congress in Slovenia.
A winner of John Dankworth’s Wavendon All Music Award, Mike teaches at the Wavendon Jazz Summer School.
The jam session, for which Mike will be joined by the North Wales Jazz Quartet, begins at 8.30pm and admission is £6, concessions £5, with a special rate of £3 for sitters-in and schoolchildren.
For an additional £2 fee, musicians have the option of attending a workshop for all instruments, tutored by Mike, at 7pm. Ring 01745 812260 or visit the website www.northwalesjazz.org.uk.
