THE charming tale of WI ladies stripping themselves of their dignity for charity is played out at the Liverpool Empire next week in the touring production of Calendar Girls.
The show is currently starring Denise Black, Jean Boht, Jennifer Ellison, Julia Hills, Ruth Madoc, Elaine C Smith, Rachel Lumberg with Joe McGann as John and Bruno Langley as Lawrence the photographer.
The now famous story is of a group of ordinary women do something extraordinary and sparking a global phenomenon.
Members of the very ordinary Yorkshire WI, persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar with a difference – meaning no more photos of Wharfedale Bridges or Norman churches.
Overcoming their initial reserve, the friends drop their dressing gowns, with their modesty spared only by strategically placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements.
Puzzling their husbands, mortifying their children, and riding the wrath of the outraged WI, they spark a global frenzy.
The show runs from Monday until Saturday, October 2. Shows start at 7.30pm, with 2.30pm matinees not the Wednesday and Saturday.
Tickets are £15.75-£31, to book phone 0844 847 2525.
