AN internationally-claimed comedian and writer is coming to The Brindley later this month.
Canadian stand-up Stewart Francis has headlined all over the world from Hong Kong to South Africa, and brought his own unique deadpan brand of comedy to hit shows on both sides of the Atlantic, including homegrown favourites Mock the Week, and 8 out of 10 cats.
He performed as the warm-up act for Ricky Gervais’s latest tour Science.
And has also written material for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
His long list of comedy festival credentials include Montreal’s Just for Laughs, the Aspen Comedy Arts Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe.
Also an accomplished actor, Francis starred in Canada’s Gemini Award-winning An American in Canada. In the US he was cast in UPN’S Kevin Hill, while in the UK he has appeared in the BBC’s Not Going Out and The Omid Djalili Show.
A Brindley spokesman said: “Great comedians come in cycles.
“As seen on Mock The Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and 8 Out of 10 Cats, he has been described by The Late LateShow as ‘One of the funniest comedians in the World’.”
Francis takes to the Brindley stage on Saturday, May 22 at 8pm. Tickets priced at £15 are available from the box office on 0151 907 8360 or at www.thebrindley.org.uk.
