Comedian Daniel Kitson brings his 66a Church Road show to Liverpool Everyman

DANIEL Kitson, a favourite of Liverpool audiences as well as the Edinburgh Comedy Festival, returns to the city’s Everyman with his latest storytelling show 66a Church Road, a wistful story of reminiscence, from May 6-8.

Following last year’s sell out performance of his stand up show We Are Gathered Here at the Playhouse and previous success with his storytelling shows C90 and The Impotent Fury of the Privileged, Daniel Kitson makes a welcome return to the Everyman.Š

In 66a Church Road, he brings us astonishing images of crumbling beauty and battered grandeur from within time beaten suitcases, telling a funny, sad and truly nostalgic story of a forsaken flat, a broken heart and the ache for home.

Kitson said: “Last September I had to move out of my flat after living there for almost six years. I didn’t want to. I lived alone. I am single. 66a Church Road was the longest relationship of my life. This is a break up show. For my flat.” The Yorkshire-born performer has been a hit act at the Edinburgh comedy festival since his first show at the event in 2001 when he was nominated for the Perrier Award.

He went on to win the prestigious award the following year with his show Something and also received the Stage Award for best solo performance 2006 for C90.

Since his early career Kitson has created a number of story shows alongside his stand-up routine, Stories of the Wobbly-hearted, C90 and The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church have all won Fringe First Awards, winning acclaim from critics and audiences alike in the process.

Kitson recently performed 66a Church Road for three weeks at the Sydney Opera House to packed audiences.
