National Dance Company Wales bring new works to Leap festival in Liverpool

AS PART of LEAP 2010, National Dance Company Wales bring New Works, an innovative double bill from leading figures Itzik Galili and Andonis Foniadakis, featuring 10 international dancers.

The production comes to the Liverpool Playhouse tomorrow and Saturday.

The two performances will comprise Veil of Stars by Andonis Foniadakis, his debut work with the company, and a new commission, Romance Inverse, from Netherlands-based choreographer Itzik Galili.

Galili’s new work uses composer Steve Reich’s Six Marimbas and a new score commissioned from Percossa – the group responsible for creating the music for Peeled, which delighted audiences at the Playhouse in 2008.

National Dance Company Wales artistic director, Ann Sholem, said: “It is great that we have Itzik coming back to work with us as he has become a firm favourite wherever we tour. Peeled has been loved by our audiences as far afield as Bilbao and Brecon, Milan and Mold.”
