MULTI-AWARD-WINNING folk star Cara Dillon is appearing on stage at The Brindley next month.
The singer has just won Album of the Year for Hill of Thieves at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
She also won Best Female Singer and Best Traditional Song at the 2010 Spiral Awards.
A Brindley spokesman said: “The combination of Cara’s staggeringly beautiful voice alongside husband and musical collaborator Sam Lakeman’s rippling piano and fresh production squeeze new life into ancient material.
“Their original songs sit happily alongside the traditional, reinforcing the debt they owe, while pointing to a distinct and distinguished musical identity all of their own.
“Whether she’s singing her native traditional songs of lost love and emigration or their original compositions, you will be hard-pressed to find a more emotive and captivating performer.
“But don’t take our word for it – why not come along and check her out yourself?
The show takes place on Friday, April 16, at 8pm. Tickets are on sale at £15, £13 for concessions, from The Brindley box office on 0151 907 8360 or at www. thebrindley.org.uk.
