Louise Parker to sing at Chester’s Guildhall

IF YOU were named after Louis Armstrong, there’s a good chance that your parents had big plans for you in the music business.

Jazz singer Louise Parker was just that and you can hear for yourself whether a voice described by Humphrey Littleton as ‘hugely impressive’ lives up to expectations at Chester’s Guildhall on Friday March 19 at 8pm.

Louise grew up in a house filled with music, from the folk, calypso and opera enjoyed by her Jamaican-born mother to the trad, swing and be-bop from her jazz-obsessed father.

She is a big hit on the festival circuit and a regular on Radio 2’s Best of Jazz with her powerful repertoire of swing, blues and gospel classics.

All proceeds from the Louise Parker concert in Chester will go to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. Tickets are £20 including a light supper from 07720032546 or email mikenclaires@aol.com

Louise can also be seen as part of Cheshire’s Rural Touring Network at Great Budworth Village Hall on March 20 (01606 891019) and Kelsall Community Centre on March 21 (01829 752647).
