FOLK rock sensation Jackson Browne is the latest act to sign up to the Liverpool Summer Pops festival.
Browne will perform at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Friday, July 2, accompanied by his band, featuring long-time musical partner David Lindley.
Browne is admired not only for his musical talents but as an advocate for social and environmental justice.
His insightful lyrics containing themes of political and personal angst feature in songs such as Running On Empty, Somebody’s Baby, The Pretender and These Days.
Jackson Browne began his musical career in the folk clubs of California during the mid 1960s.
A brief spell in New York, during the Coffeehouse scene of the late 60s, saw Browne make a name for himself in American folk-rock.
Already confirmed for this year’s Summer Pops are Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jools Holland and special guest star Alison Moyet.
Also featuring are Rod Stewart, Status Quo, and The Australian Pink Floyd Show.
Summer Pops promoter Chas Cole said: “I’m a life-long fan of Jackson Browne, to bring him to Liverpool is a huge thrill for me.”
Tickets for the show, on Friday, June 2, are on sale at £40 and details of extra dates are soon to be released. Tickets are available by calling 0844 847 1616, the ticketline on 0151 256 5555 or by visiting www.ticketline.co.uk.
