Film and TV star Romola Garai in Three Sisters at The Lowry

RISING Hollywood actress Romola Garai is appearing at The Lowry in Salford Quays this week in a new production of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters.

Garai sprang to fame as Bryony Tallis in the acclaimed screen version of Atonement alongside Keira Knightley. Last year, she enjoyed further success when she starred in the title role of BBC TV’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma.

Three Sisters sees Garai reunited with Poppy Miller, who played Isabella Knightly in Emma.

Also joining the cast is Mark Theodore, who appeared at The Lowry recently in the RSC’s explosive drama Days Of Significance.

Following their hit show Twelfth Night, Filter and the Lyric Hammersmith’s artistic director Sean Holmes delve beneath the surface of Chekhov’s text to explore one family’s search for ever elusive happiness.

Fusing imaginative staging, evocative physicality and Filter’s trademark use of sound, this production distils the essence of Chekhov’s classic.

Three Sisters can be seen at The Lowry until Saturday, March 6. Visit the website: www.thelowry.com or ring 0870 111 2000.
