THE internationally celebrated Northern Broadsides return to the Everyman in Liverpool with their highly charged performance style and charismatic cast of actors, for a new production of Euripides’s tale of Greek tragedy, Medea.
Medea will be directed by Northern Broadsides’ artistic director Barrie Rutter, who is sure to instil the company’s trademark vitality, directness and energy to ignite the dramatic voltage of Tom Paulin’s new version of this Greek tragedy.
Alone, betrayed by a husband she sacrificed everything for, Medea unleashes a horrific vengeance on her enemies, making assassins and victims of her own children.
Featuring one of the most powerful female roles in the history of drama, Medea is an intense story fuelled by passion and rage.Š
Playwright and poet, Paulin has previously published two versions of Greek drama on stage, Riot Act – based on Sophocles – and Seize the Fire, a version of Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound.
Medea can be seen until Saturday, February 27. Ring 0151 709 4776.
