Five Star Swing band at Forum Studio Theatre in Chester

THE Five Star Swing band will perform for one night only at Chester’s Forum Studio Theatre.

Former Ivy Benson musician, Simone Smith, husband Chris and band will entertain on Saturday, February 27 at 7.30pm.

Their repertoire includes classic big band hits and swing from artists like Frank Sinatra, Glenn Miller and Jools Holland.

Chris said: “I've been brought up with this style of music as my father played trombone for Frank Sinatra on his European tours.

The band performed with Dame Vera Lynn at a recent charity concert and on BBC TV's Children In Need.

Simone, who sings and plays lead alto saxophone, has also played with prestigious artists like Paul Weller and John Williams and performed a sax solo on Paul Merton’s TV show.

Bandleader Chris is well known for his arrangements and compositions and plays frequently on Jazz FM and BBC Radio 2. His varied career includes performances on Top of the Pops, Breakfast TV with Herb Miller (Glenn Miller's brother) and a solo performance in the Michael Caine film Silver Bears.
