THE award-winning BBC Philharmonic are joined by BBC TV’s Matt Baker for a family-friendly musical celebration of Spring at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Sunday, March 14 at 3pm (Mothering Sunday).
The programme is packed full of music which celebrates the natural world and new life, including extracts from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, Tchaikovsky’s Valse des Fleurs and Rimsky Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumble Bee.
Baker, who presents the BBC’s flagship TV nature programme Countryfile, will bring his own brand of enthusiasm to the afternoon and the fun on stage will be echoed by foyer activities before and after the show.
The BBC’s interactive team will present, arts and crafts challenges will be on offer, and a roaming magician will also entertain.
Taking the baton will be Richard Davis. The players also welcome the Salford Family Orchestra and Chorus (SFO) following their show-stopping Promos concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
The BBC Philharmonic’s Family Concert will last for just over an hour and is aimed at children aged 6-14 – but all are welcome.
Tickets are £6 for children, £8.50 for adults, £25 for a group of four.
The Bridgewater box office is open from 10am-6pm (8pm on event nights). Tickets are also available by phone on 0161 907 9000 (£2 transaction fee) or online at www. bridgewater-hall.co.uk (£1.50 transaction fee). Visit bbc.co.uk/ philharmonic/salford family orchestra for more details.
