Upton High School student to perform at Chester Folk Day
ONE of the major performers at the Chester Folk Day at the end of February will be local teenager Greg Russell.
Greg, a student at Upton High School, will be opening the main concert at this year’s event which takes place on February 27 at Hoole Community Centre in Westminster Road.
Greg is a talented singer, guitarist and songwriter, with a powerful, distinctive voice. A growing reputation has already seen him grace the bill at Chester Folk Festival as well as play support for other local folk acts.
When Upton High School decided to put on a production of Buddy, the Buddy Holly stage show, to run for four nights next week, Greg seemed the obvious choice to be given the lead role.
One or two of Holly’s songs may well make an appearance in his folk set at the end of the month.
Tickets for the Folk Day cost £10 for the afternoon, £9 for the evening and £16 for the whole day (concessions apply) and are available on the door, by ringing 07005 977045, or through the website www.chesterfolk.org.uk.
