ROD Stewart has become the first act to sign up for this year’s Liverpool Summer Pops Festival.
Tickets went on sale on Friday for the one-off show on Wednesday, July 21.
Fresh from top 10 chart success with his album Soulbook released last November, tickets for his summer tour are said to be selling ‘at an incredible rate’.
More acts are expected to sign up in coming weeks.
Stewart came to prominence in the late 1960s with The Jeff Beck Group and launched his solo career in 1969 with his debut album An Old Raincoat Won’t Ever Let You Down, and some say his music has influenced the heavy metal and punk rock genres.
Now in his sixth decade of singing, his distinctive raspy voice will be coming to Liverpool after 10 years of Summer Pops efforts.
Pops organiser Chas Cole said: “This is a really special year for the Liverpool Summer Pops Festival, not only is it our 10th anniversary this year but we have been trying to bring Rod Stewart to Liverpool for a decade so this is really exciting news.”
Tickets cost £60 and a limited number of VIP and Gold Circle tickets are also available. For tickets call 0844 800 0400 and for VIP tables for 10 people call 0151 708 6050.
