ROCK legends Nazareth are the first major band of 2010 to visit The M Club in Crewe.
They arrive at the High Street venue on Friday to showcase the talents that have brought them success for nearly 40 years.
Formed in 1968, Nazareth sprung from the ashes of a semi-professional local band, The Shadettes, eventually taking their name from the opening line from The Weight – the classic song by The Band.
They are perhaps best known for their breakthrough albums Razamanazz and Loud n Proud –- both 1973 – and their chart-storming singles Bad Bad Boy, Broken Down Angel , Love Hurts, My White Bicycle and their adaptation of Joni Mitchell’s This Flight Tonight.
Since then the band have released a steady stream of top-notch albums and retained a steadfast, almost rabid fan base across the world.
Out now in time for their UK tour is The Anthology which, according to bassist and co-founder Pete Agnew, is well worth checking out for fans old and new.
“We’ve had several collections out over the years, but I have to say that this is a cracker,” he said.
Their current studio album, The Newz, was their 21st, and also their first since Homecoming in 2001.
Tickets are £12.50, to book visit www.themclub.co.uk.
