NORWICH duo Violet Violet add a touch of colour when they visit The Box, Crewe, on Saturday.
Cheri (guitar and vocals) and Fliss (drums) bring their PJ Harvey influenced rock to the Pedley Street venue to raise their profile in the North West.
The edgy pop duo are causing quite a stir in the music media jungle.
Having been spotted in Everett True’s Plan B mag, received an ‘Artrocker’ feature and a coveted slot in the NME, the girls have further earned airplay from Radio 1, where they were branded one of Steve Lamacq’s ‘new favourite bands’.
Their quirky approach has charmed a few cats in the industry too, including Brummie punk legends The Nightingales, who the girls have toured with in America, Europe and the UK.
Expect tumbling tunes stuffed full of primal tribal rhythms, gyrating guitars and a dual-pronged lead vocal attack.
Their second strident album, The City is Full of Beasts, was released last summer to high acclaim.
Support for the gig comes from rising stars The Retrospective, Shropshire band The Jackdaws and young ska outfit Butterfingers.
Doors open from 8pm and entry is £5. For further details, visit www. theboxcrewe.co.uk.
