CAMP comedy is being put back into Crewe’s Lyceum Theatre next week as Julian Clary brings his Lord of the Mince tour to South Cheshire.
The comedian has already performed at more than 50 venues across the UK but is extending his tour into February and March to meet a high demand.
The 50-year-old has made a successful career for himself in television and writing by playing on his stereotypical style and utilising the comic effect of innuendo and double entendre.
Clary said: “I’m 50. The shame of it. This will be an intimate evening – a celebration, no less, of my 25 years in the camp spotlight, how I got there and why I refuse to leave.
“Come along and see me before they put me in a home for tired old knackers.”
It was hitting such a milestone that inspired him to go out on tour once more as a stand-up, having revived an arguably flagging career when he took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2004.
Tickets for the show, which starts at 8pm on Friday, February 5, are priced £20. To book, call the Lyceum box office on 01270 537333 or visit www.lyceum theatre.net.
