Phill Jupitus to play Edna Turnblad in Hairspray at Liverpool Empire

COMEDY star Phill Jupitus, who currently plays the role of larger-than-life heroine, Edna Turnblad in the London production of Hairspray, will reprise the role for the Liverpool Empire run this summer.

Les Dennis will take on the role of loveable, ever so slightly crazy joke shop owner Wilbur Turnblad.

Danny Bayne, who won ITV’s Grease is the Word will play Corny Collins; winner of GMTV’s search for Troy in High School Musical 2, Liam Doyle, will take on the role of Link Larkin and Laurie Scarth will play Tracy Turnblad.

Phill Jupitus is a comedian, broadcaster, writer and actor who has appeared on British television and radio and the stage for more than 20 years.

He has appeared on many television and radio panel shows including QI and was a regular team captain on the hit BBC 2 show Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
