MUSIC and physics are combined during a celebration of the life and work of Albert Einstein in Liverpool next month.
Since The United Nations declared 2005 the International Year of Physics, Professor Brian Foster of Oxford University, and renowned international violinist Jack Liebeck have collaborated on a series of lectures highlighting Einstein’s love of the violin and how his ideas shaped our modern view of the universe.
This lecture, and associated violin and piano recital, will take you on a journey of discovery from the Large Hadron Collider at CERN to the very heart of matter.
The lecture opens with an introduction to Einstein's life and his involvement with music, in particular his beloved violin.
It will be punctuated by musical interludes, featuring Einstein’s favorite composers including Bach, Mozart and Kreisler.
Later, Jack Liebeck is joined by pianist, Katya Apekisheva, at 7.45pm in a recital featuring music by Bach, Brahms, Mozart, Dvorak and Bloch
The event is at St George’s Hall, Liverpool, on Friday, February 5. The lecture is at 5.15pm and the recital at 7.45pm. Concert tickets are £2.50 and will allow free admission to the lecture. Ring 0151 709 3789 for admission details.
