Newcastle based guitar band Detroit Social Club are bringing their unique sound to The Masque, Liverpool, and The Box, Crewe

Geordie rockers, tipped to be one of the stars of 2010, are coming to the North West on their UK tour.

The must-see act of the year, Detroit Social Club, are readying themselves for visits to The Masque in Liverpool and Crewe’s The Box, at the end of February.

Armed with new material, produced by Jim Abbiss, who has worked with Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian, the Newcastle sextet will bring their unique, gospel enthused sound to 17 venues across the country.

Combining delicate lyrics – which ooze soul and passion, with old fashioned Northern blues stomp – these rock and rollers take the sounds of the Velvet Underground, Brian Jones Town Massacre and contemporaries like Gomez and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to create a fresh sound for the new decade.

Songwriter David Burn, said: “This is our chance.Things are going to change, but this is what we've dreamed of since we first picked up guitars 10 years ago.”

The band came together in 2008, Burn, writing the songs alone in a purpose-built practise room, called The Garage, was joined by some of Newcastle’s finest young musicians who practised in the rooms at the complex, and within weeks the buzz surrounding the band was growing.

Fast forward a year, and following the addition of two long-term associates, the band is ready to bring their music to the people and are already spoken of as the saviours of British guitar music.

They play at The Masque in Liverpool on February 25; ring 0844 8472424 for tickets.

On Friday, February 26, they play at The Box, Pedley Street, Crewe. For tickets and information ring 01270 257 398.
