Sleeping Beauty brought to life in Frodsham production

CLASSIC panto Sleeping Beauty takes to the stage in Frodsham this month.

John Morley’s version of the famous fairy tale comes to Frodsham Community Centre from Sunday, January 10, until Saturday, January 16.

The play tells the heartfelt story of Princess Beauty and her tyrannical parents King Fred and Queen Formica, who plan to have her wed to the best suitor from five wealthy hand-picked princes.

However, as the tale unfolds, the wicked witch, Carabosse, places the princess under a spell, saying that, on reaching adulthood, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die.

A good fairy, unable to completely reverse the spell, said that the princess would instead sleep for 100 years, until awakened by a prince and true love’s first kiss.

Poor Richard of Ruritania presents her with a red rose of love and the princess falls in love with him, rejecting the wealth and presents from the other suitors.

This angers her parents greatly and all kinds of crazy adventures follow.

The panto, has been put together by director Cecil Walker, musical director Anne Sleigh, choreographer Fiona O’Connor and stage manager Ian Champion.

A spokesman for the show said: “Brighten up a cold, January night by coming to see our production.
