DESPITE the recession Crewe Lyceum Theatre is still proving to be one of the area’s number one entertainment attractions as it announces its spring programme.
Among the big names are camp comedian Julian Clary, who will be visiting with his Lord Of the Mince tour, and John Challis and Sue Holderness – aka Boycie and Marlene from Only Fools and Horses.
Six plays will feature in a packed programme including an appearance from Dirk Benedict in Columbo, along with Fatal Encounter, Billy Liar and Wife Begins at Forty.
A number of musicals will liven up the stage as well, such as The Bootleg Sixties, One Night in Vegas, The Rat Pack and the Magic of Motown.
Comedy fans will also be appeased with the returns of Roy Chubby Brown and Freddie Starr in their adult-only shows.
Lyceum spokeswoman Philippa Unett said: “There will also be some great amateur performances highlighting the very best in local talent.”
Finally, tickets have already gone on sale for this year’s panto, Aladdin, once again produced by Imagine Theatre and which will run from December 1-January 2.
Philippa added: “These are only a few highlights of the shows the Lyceum has next season, for a full brochure please contact the Lyceum box office on 01270 537 333.”
