Royal Northern College of Music perform a special concert featuring eight pianists

AN ORCHESTRA of eight outstanding pianists will play a unique new year concert at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

The extraordinary event, which will bring together eight concert pianists on stage at the same time, is taking place at 7pm on Sunday, January 31.

The night is in support of the college’s John Wilson Junior Fellowship in Piano Accompaniment, which enables extraordinary young talented musicians to study at the Royal Northern College of Music.

The evening will include performances by international concert pianists, including Peter Donohoe, Julian Evans, John Gough, Peter Lawson, Nicholas Rimmer, Martin Roscoe, Graham Scott, Jonathan Scott, Keith Swallow and Andrew Wilde.

They will be joined by John Wilson himself as well as improvisation genius Harry Harris.

Classic FM’s John Brunning will act as compere for the evening and RNCM tutor Tim Reynish will conduct.

The pianists will play works by Ravel, Chopin, Rachmaninov, Haydn and Liszt and the finale will showcase the extraordinary work of eight grand pianos.
