BRITISH folk icons Steeleye Span are back on the road this autumn with the final celebrations of their 40th year anniversary.
With a newly released album Cogs, Wheels and Lovers and following a successful tour to the USA and Australia last month, the band will be playing 30 shows, including a special show at the Barbican with guests John Kirkpatrick and Martin Carthy.
They come to Cheshire to play at the Parr Hall in Warrington on Tuesday, December 15.
The band has seldom been more active in its long career and the current line-up of Maddy Prior, Peter Knight, Rick Kemp, Liam Genockey and Ken Nicol has become the longest serving of any across the years.
At a point when most bands are happy to settle down to rehashing past glories, Steeleye Span have pushed on with a succession of acclaimed albums, each seeing them redefine their classic sound.
Cogs, Wheels & Lovers sees them go back to their roots – the interpretation of traditional song.
Tickets are £17.50. Ring the box office on 01925 442345.
