MANCHESTER’S Royal Exchange Theatre is set for a spirited festive season this Christmas with Suranne Jones starring in a new production of the delightful Noël Coward comedy Blithe Spirit, from December 9 to January 23.
Coward’s famously funny romp is set in the world of socialite and novelist Charles Condomine who is haunted by the ghost of his first wife Elvira.
She appears following a séance held by the engagingly eccentric clairvoyant Madame Arcati and causes havoc with her continuous attempts to disrupt Charles’ mar riage to second wife Ruth.
Best known for her regular role as Karen McDonald in Coronation Street, Suranne Jones plays Ruth. Her other TV credits include Vincent and Unforgiven.
Also appearing as Madame Arcati is Annette Badland, whose extensive TV and film credits include Bergerac and Doctor Who.
The cast includes Milo Twomey, Peter Temple, Wendy Nottingham, Nelly Harker and Katie West.
