CONTROVERSIAL Irish comedian Sean Hughes will deliver his latest musings to Halton theatre-goers in the New Year.
Hughes, who is famed for his explosive style and quick-fire responses brings his new show, What I Meant To Say Was... to the Brindley on February 16.
Hughes became the youngest comic ever to win the Perrier award with his show, A One Night Stand With Sean Hughes, at the Edinburgh Fringe festival debut in 1990.
His early success as a stand-up landed him perhaps his best known role, as a team captain on the popular satirical BBC music show Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
He appeared on the show from 1996-2002, alongside Phil Jupitus and Mark Lamarr.
Since then, Hughes, a close pal of the late great American comic Bill Hicks, has achieved success in TV shows such as ITV’s The Last Detective and in hosting his own Channel 4 sitcom, Sean’s Show.
As well as performing comedy, he has written collections of prose and poetry and worked on a number of films, as well as presenting weekend radio shows on the BBC’s London radio station GLR, and BBC 6 Music. He has also written two novels – The Detainees and It’s What He Would Have Wanted.
