Grumpy Old Man Arthur Smith comes to The Brindley, Runcorn
COMIC grumbler Arthur Smith will arrive in Runcorn in time to kick off the Brindley’s 2010 programme.
The stand-up performer and star of TV’s Grumpy Old Men will present a night of variety at the town’s arts venue on Friday, January 29.
The Radio 2 regular will host two hours of sizzling fun, featuring Hattie Hayridge from Red Dwarf and outrageous comedy from Phoenix Nights.
Also featuring in the show are Yamaha/Classic FM award winning soul singer Ruby Wood and guitarist Noah Burton.
The evening promises a heady mix of intelligent comedy and outstanding music.
In 2005, Smith turned down a lifetime achievement award from the Perrier Award organisers.
He said that “Comedians rather dislike the Perrier Awards and the public aren’t interested.
“Basically, they wanted to tell me I was old and cool; well, I know that already.
“And anyway, my ego is bloated enough.”
The show starts at 8pm and tickets are on sale now priced £15, from The Brindley box office on 0151 907 8360 and online at www.thebrindley.org.uk.
