SIMPLY Red have announced they will be visiting Delamere Forest next summer as part of the Forestry Commission’s live music events.
The band will appear on Friday, July 2, on what is to be their farewell tour.
The band is the first stellar name to be announced for a string of dates in the idyllic setting during the summer.
Last year Paul Weller, Doves and classical singer Katherine Jenkins played to a packed crowd of thousands of fans in the forest.
Simply Red lead singer Mick Hucknall said: “As we had such fun performing a solo forest show at Westonbirt Arboretum this year, we decided it would be great to play all the forest concert venues around the country in 2010.
“It is a fantastic experience for a band to play in these unique settings.”
Fans can expect to hear all the band’s hits, including favourites such as Fairground, Holding Back the Years, If You Don’t Know Me By Now and Stars.
The British soul band have sold more than 50 million albums during a packed 25-year career, and announced earlier this year that this tour will be their last.
The Forestry Commission Live Music pays for itself and any profit generated goes back into improving woodlands for both wildlife and the public to enjoy.
