SOME of the UK’s funniest comedians are wondering whether Chester is funny enough.
The four comedians, known all around the UK, are due to appear at the new Chester Comedy Club on Friday, November 27 at The Guildhall in Watergate Street.
However in a national survey of jokes submitted online, it was found that Chester has one of the lowest records of funny jokes of any major city.
In fact even Grimsby – long known for its woeful humour – came out tops on Chester.
Gary Solomon, the man behind the Chester Comedy Club, said: “I couldn't believe it, I did the survey and found my home town is sadly lacking in good jokes.
“I wondered whether we have the ability to laugh enough in these times. In my book that makes it a good reason to put the Comedy Club on at the Guildhall.”
Gary has laid down the gauntlet – four free tickets for the best online jokes that are submitted to www.chestercomedyclub.co.uk.
Top of the bill comedy star Jo Enright said: “I hope they do well. When I heard that the survey put Chester at the bottom, I wondered what I was in for.”
The Chester Comedy Club is taking bookings via their web site at www.chestercomedyclub.co.uk. Doors open at 7.30pm.
