BBC Philharmonic announce series of autumn and winter concerts

THE prestigious BBC Philharmonic Orchestra has a series of concerts coming up, writes Mathieu Warwood.

On Saturday, November 7, the musicians appear at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall to play works including Bartok’s Violin Concerto No 2 and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No 2.

They return on Friday, November 20, playing classics from Shoshtakovich, Brahms and Sibelius.

Tickets for both performances range in price from £9-£31 and can be bought via the box office on 0161 907 9000 or at www.bridgewater-hall.co.uk.

The Phil is also making two consecutive appearances at Maxwell Hall, part of the University of Salford campus.

The first concert is on Friday, November 27, at 7pm – followed the next day with a performance at 4pm.

The programme includes performances of Haydn’s The Creation, Brahms’s Violin Concerto and Symphony No 1 by Sibelius.

The orchestra will perform Swan Lake at the Bridgewater in December.
