SHARP-TONGUED comedian and TV presenter Simon Amstell brings his ‘challenging yet playful’ stand up show Do Nothing to Manchester’s Lowry Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
The former host of BBC2’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks has been described as ‘as close as you can get to a man emotionally and philosophically disembowelling himself on stage’.
A theatre spokesman said: “Simon delivers his brilliantly funny material with enormous charm and just a little of the trademark sarcasm we’ve come to expect.
“He speaks for a disconnected, disengaged chunk of Britain waiting for the world, or some meaningful cause, to come bursting through the door. It doesn’t.”
Simon rose to fame after gaining a cult following for his uncompromising and often sarcastic interview style during his six years of presenting Channel 4’s Popworld.
A BAFTA-nominated comic, in March 2007 he won the Royal Television Society Award for Best Entertainment Performance for his work presenting Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Shows start at 7.30pm. For tickets, priced £20, phone the box office on 0870 787 5780.
