AWARD-winning actress Alison Steadman will visit Liverpool later this month to launch a new series of film-based special events.

The Liverpool-born star of Mike Leigh’s Life is Sweet, will attend a screening of the film at FACT on September 29.

Steadman was awarded Best Actress from the National Society of Film Critics Award in 1991 for her portrayal of Wendy, whose husband decides to run a fast food van.

Funds raised will go to the Clapperboard Youth Project.

Steadman said: “It’s an honour for me to be returning to Liverpool.

“Not only to this great city but to support the Clapperboard Youth Project which aims to bring both new and existing talent together in these monthly events that will raise much needed funds.”
