CUB Scout Tom Briscoe may not be much older than many of the patients on the children’s ward at Leighton Hospital, but that certainly didn’t hold back his fundraising efforts.
Tom, with the support of his family, raised £80 for the specialist unit, which cares for children up to the age of 16.
As a member of the 35th South West Cheshire Rowallan Scout Pack, he was eager to complete his Chief Scouts Silver Award; the highest achievable in the Scouts.
Encouraged by his grandfather, John Bennett, Group Scout Leader, Tom organised a BBQ, charging friends and family members £2.50 to come along. Food was generously donated by Cheerbrook Quality Farm Foods.
About 30 people came along to the outdoor party, with the weather staying dry and sunny for the event.
Children and adolescent ward manager Andy Langley said: “We are very grateful to Tom. I’m sure his family and school friends at Wistaston Church Lane Primary School are very proud of him.”
The money will be spent on equipment for the young patients.
