Ocean Colour Scene come to Crewe

BRITPOP giants Ocean Colour Scene return to The M Club in Crewe on Friday to follow up last year’s sell-out appearance.

The Birmingham five-piece were at the forefront of the Britpop scene of the 90s, with second album Moseley Shoals containing four hit singles and reaching number two in the chart.

They also supported Oasis at Knebworth, and their musical talents have regularly been praised by the Gallagher brothers and former Jam frontman Paul Weller.

They perhaps best known for the track The Riverboat Song, despite charting at a relatively modest number 15, which was used as backing music on Channel 4 show TFI Friday with Chris Evans.

They are also fondly remembered for 90s anthems such as The Day We Caught The Train and Hundred Mile High City.

Frontman Simon Fowler said: “Because we’ve been together so long we’ve amassed a decent and loyal following.

“I think it’s the younger siblings who’ve gone through their brother or sister’s record collection and found us.”

Tickets are £20, available in advance from the box office on 01270 216785 or at www.themclub.co.uk.
