Midge Ure comes to Crewe

MUSICAL legend Midge Ure makes his debut appearance at the Lyceum theatre in Crewe on Tuesday with his touring show Uncovered.

Ure was one of the driving forces behind Live Aid, Band Aid and Live 8 and co-writer of the classic Christmas charity song Do They Know It’s Christmas?.

The Grammy Award winner has been one of the UK’s biggest names in music for more than 30 years.

His career started in the 70s with Slick, whose song Forever and Ever knocked ABBA off the number one spot on Valentines Day in 1976.

Since then he has worked with some of the most iconic names in UK music including The Rich Kids, Thin Lizzy and Ultravox as well as a solo career which saw him storm to the top of the chart with his single If I Was in 1985.

Lyceum spokeswoman Philippa Unett said: “Uncovered is the latest live incarnation of Midge Ure, combining his own classic hits with a selection of songs that have been a major influence on him.

“Along with a smattering of personal reflections, all done in an acoustic format, it should certainly provide an entertaining evening.”

Midge Ure visits the Lyceum on Tuesday. The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £16, concessions £15.
