Spotlight on Shakespeare’s women

TWENTY of Shakes-peare’s most famous female creations come together to raise the curtain for a new season at Northwich’s award-winning Harlequin Theatre.

Tickets are on sale now for a three-night run of And When Love Speaks at the group’s Queen Street HQ.

Acclaimed director Gordon Hamlin said: “The production is an anthology of Shakespeare’s speeches and sonnets, linked with music and an astute commentary on what makes each of the women tick.”

Seven star in the all-female cast, bringing to life characters ranging from Cleopatra to Lady Macbeth and Juliet to Mistress Quickly, as each is caught speaking her mind on the many facets of love.

A flurry of familiar faces are welcomed back to the Harlequin stage including Lucy Cruddas (Pygmalion) and Sue Curran.

And When Love Speaks runs from September 10-12. Tickets are priced £6 and £5 for full-time students, and are available from Northwich Information Centre or by phone on 01606 353534.
