Celebrity chef and TV star Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall comes to the Shell Chester Literature Festival to talk about River Cottage Every Day.
The “real food” campaigner – who is known for his eccentric, back to basics, philosophy – can be seen on Sunday, October 18, at 11.30am, at Chez Jules, Northgate Street.
His latest book, River Cottage Every Day, shows how Hugh’s uncompromising and non-squeamish approach can be adapted to suit any growing, working family, or busy young singles and couples.
Breakfast, baking, lunchboxes, quick suppers, healthy snacks, eating on the move and weekend cooking for the week ahead are all covered.
Hugh said: “I have honed the River Cottage approach to food over a decade now, and I believe passionately that it is relevant to everybody, every day. You only have to decide that food, and its provenance, matters to you and your family, and the River Cottage way of doing things can offer a whole raft of solutions.”
As well as learning from Hugh, food fans will have the opportunity to enjoy his exclusively created menu at the popular French brasserie, which won best large restaurant of the year at his year’s Chester Food and Drink Festival.
The one-off event has two ticket prices, to hear and meet Hugh costs £10, or for £30 guests can hear Hugh’s talk and then stay for a full three-course lunch at Chez Jules.
World renowned writers, including the first female Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, adventurer Alistair Humphreys, animal addict Chris Packham and national newspaper defence commentator Allan Mallison will be hosting workshops, author events and more at the two-week festival as more than 60 events take place across the city.
Tickets for all the events, from October 3-18, are on sale now from www.chesterfestivals.co.uk, by ringing 0845 2417868 or in person at the Tourist Information Centre by the Town Hall.
