More than 60,000 music fans and party animals will descend on the sleepy village of Daresbury this Bank Holiday weekend as Creamfields returns.
The two-day dance music extravaganza has been confirmed as a sell-out event that will see live performances from Basement Jaxx, Calvin Harris and Dizzee Rascal send earth-shuddering basslines across the Cheshire countryside.
Live DJ performances from stars such as Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Mylo, David Guetta, Judge Jules, as well as local Chester DJs Kutski and Jordan Suckley, are also sure to be crowd pleasers.
Creamfields, which moved to Daresbury from Liverpool’s former airfield at Speke in 2006, is one of the country’s biggest and best known festivals and plans for next year are already well under way with early-bird tickets made available next month for those who missed out this time around.
On Saturday, the main stage will be headlined by dutch DJ superstar Tiesto, who became the first DJ to be asked to play at an Olympic Games, when he played at Athens in 2004. Also appearing will be Radio 1 legend Pete Tong, Friendly Fires and Lauren Garnier.
On Sunday, topping the billing will be world-famous electro pop duo Basement Jaxx. The band, which brought Where’s Your Head At, Romeo, Oh My Gosh and Rendez-Vu to the UK charts, to name just a few of their hits, are famed for their flamboyant, colourful and energised performances that will leave even the more hard-core ravers gasping for air.
Just 18 miles down the M56, Creamfields is the nearest mainstream music festival for those living in the Chester and North Wales area but despite the dance-music fraternity’s best efforts, residents should not be troubled by the noise, but only just.
