SOUTH Cheshire music fans are being treated to a special double-header from the Sumo Kings this weekend.
The Crewe four-piece headline The Box in Pedley Street on Friday before a rare showing at the Wheatsheaf, in Hightown, Sandbach on Saturday.
It follows a lengthy recording stint with engineer-cum-producer Mike Bell, who has worked with the likes of CSS and Babyshambles.
Gigs at the Stoke Sounds Festival and a small secret show in Crewe last week were a riot, according to frontman Chris Farrington, and he is promising more of the same.
“It’s great to be headlining The Box. The venue has been good to us and we’ve been good to them, so what better way to celebrate than ripping it up with us headlining?
“With the Wheatsheaf, it’s a chance to go mental in a small room with my mates. It will be chaotic. That’s what I love and what it’s all about.”
A club night called Club Sumo will follow at Square One, in Mill Street, Crewe, on October 3 with appearances from indie/electro DJs and, of course, a full set from the Sumos.
That is three days after their support slot with The Twang at the M Club, High Street.
Doors at The Box open on Friday at 8pm with tickets £5, call 07515821694 or visit www.theboxcrewe.co.uk. Support is from the Electric Kools. The free Wheatsheaf gig starts at 9.30pm.
