Phoenix Park in Runcorn stages a free Party in the Park tomorrow (Friday) with an uplifting live bill to go with what they hope is an afternoon of song and sunshine.
The Castlefields sunny afternoon begins at noon at the Loose Music Marquee with acoustic pop from the Kitty Burrito Girls, followed by cool lapsteel and trumpet from Bill Leach and Ged Fox.
The special guests at the jamboree are the award-winning young bluegrass Jaywalkers who are scheduled to appear on the marquee stage at 1pm.
The Jaywalkers comprise Jay Bradberry on fiddle and guitar and lead vocals and Michael Giverin on mandolin and guitar and backing vocals.
With an average age of 16, local musicians The Life Project are the next act up. They’re already gaining some attention with their own brand of indie rock ’n’ roll.
Then it’s chill-out time with an acoustic set from Ben Scholte, followed by girls-with-guitars Claire Smith and Laura Griffiths with a set of their own songs.
To round off the oarty in style at 3.30pm, young Widnes band Paraffin Oil Shop are the final act.
As well as the music, there will be plenty of activities including a circus skills workshop, a paintball target range and children’s rides.
The party will go on regardless of the weather as all the acts appear in Loose Music’s big marquee.
Festival-goers are advised to take along rugs or chairs and umbrellas as they will gather on the grass outside the marquee stage.
People can also take along picnics if they choose.
