Charlatans heading off to conquer America in 22-date tour

THE Charlatans have announced tey will be going on a gruelling two-month tour of North America after they complete a summer of festival appearances and gigs across Europe and the UK.

Mid Cheshire’s most successful band are appearing in Romania, Croatia and Spain this month as well as playing to thousands at Guilfest in Surrey and the Stockton Riverside Festival.

In August, Tim Burgess, Martin Blunt, Tony Rogers, Jon Brookes and Mark Collins are staying in the UK as they play in West Yorkshire, Scotland and Cumbria as well as a Summer Sundae Weekender in Leicestershire.

The Charlatans will then head across the Atlantic ocean to play a 22-date two-month tour of America and Canada with standout gigs being held in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and New York.

The tour comes 12 months after the band’s last album You Cross My Path was released and is yet another sign that Mid Cheshire’s indie superstars are not planning to hang up their guitars yet.

After their first album Some Friendly was released in 1990, The Charlatans shot to fame and fortune, earning awards and critical acclaim.

Platinum and Gold discs were hung on the walls at Northwich’s former Omega Music store on Witton Walk and Charlie’s Cafe on Witton Street was featured on the front cover of the band’s greatest hits album, Melting Pot.

The Charlatans’ bassist, Martin Blunt, still lives in Northwich.
