LOVED by children for almost 40 years, Roald Dahl’s enduringly popular children’s story The BFG is brought to life in a new adapation.
The well-loved story of a dream-blowing, big friendly giant (BFG) and orphan girl Sophie in the land of child-eating giants comes to the Palace Theatre, Manchester from Tuesday, August 25 to Saturday, August 29.
When little Sophie is snatched out of her bed in the dead of night by the BFG, she fears the worst. His grisly neighbours, the Bloodbottler and the Fleshlumpeater, like nothing more than swallowing ‘human beans’, especially nice little ‘childers’.
But the BFG is a dream-maker and not a man-eater and he’s about to take Sophie on a journey she never expected.
The production stars Adam Baxter as Sam Simkins, Darrell Brockis as Ronald Simkins, Becky John as Sophie, Anthony Pedley as The BFG, Heather Phoenix as the Queen of England and Louise Shuttleworth as Mary, maid to the Queen.
The BFG is classic Dahl, both terrifying and delighful, and this new stage show promises to mix up heart-pounding adventures with life-long friendships, jumbly words and even some ‘whizzpopping’ in front of the Queen.
Director Phil Clark said: “In a world of video games and television, it’s important that young people experience the magic of live theatre. Our goal is to engage them in a fantastical world that has a real relevance to their lives.”
Tickets are priced at £10.50-£15.50, for more information ring 08448 480 190 or visit www.lovebfg.com.
