Llangollen’s International Musical Eisteddfod will play host to some big names from all over the world

THE pretty Denbighshire town of Llangollen is once again ringing with the sound of music, as the annual International Musical Eisteddfod gets under way.

The festival, which began on Monday will feature choirs, musicians and dancers from all over the world, finally culminating in a James Bond themed Licensed to Thrill concert, hosted by Bond girl Honor Blackman on Sunday night.

Friday is International Celtic and Folk Day, with a classic concert featuring opera quartet Blake and soprano Natasha Marsh in the evening.

Tickets to the evening show start at £12, with music beginning at 7.45pm.

Saturday is International Family Day, which will see male and female choirs singing classical and close-harmony songs, barbershop and songs from popular musicals.

The evening’s entertainment will be the popular Choir of the World competition, with international choirs battling it out for the prestigious Pavarotti Trophy, named after the Italian tenor, who sang at the Eisteddfod in 1955.

Tickets start from £10, with music beginning at 7.45pm.

The evening’s Licensed to Thrill concert, which features a firework finale, will begin at 7.45pm, with tickets starting from £16.
